Honouring 'unsung achievers': Huge jump in recommendations for Padma awards

The recommendations received for Padma awards last year were almost double of those submitted to the government in 2016. This follows a conscious move by the Modi government to honour “unsung” achievers who have dedicated their lives to doing exemplary work in diverse fields.
